Christian Eriksen from Manchester United: “Our Results Aren’t Meeting Our Expectations”

Manchester United’s hopes of making a strong title challenge after an 11-year gap have taken a hit with disappointing performances in their recent matches. A lackluster 2-0 loss against Tottenham and a rather lackadaisical 1-0 win against Wolves at home have raised concerns among fans.

Adding to their challenges, Erik ten Hag’s team has been grappling with a lack of sharpness in their attacking play due to the absence of their new striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is sidelined with a back injury.

Christian Eriksen, who has been coming off the bench in the past couple of Premier League games, shared his perspective in an interview with ‘United Review’ about the current state of the team.

“In terms of results, we find ourselves in a place that’s not where we wanted to be. Of course, it’s still early days in the season. The only silver lining is that we’ve started off better compared to last season, with a few more points on the board than before [when we faced losses against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford in the opening two fixtures].”

“However, we’re well aware that we have the potential to perform at a much higher level. It’s challenging, and there’s always the temptation to reflect on the past [regarding our start last season], but ultimately, we need to focus on what we can do in the present moment. We’ll need to put in a lot of hard work to bring about a change and improve the overall mood, especially after the recent match against Spurs,” he added.

It’s worth noting that last season, the trio of Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, and Casemiro in the midfield for the Red Devils experienced just two defeats in a total of 25 games.
