In the first leg of their Europa League play-off round, Aberdeen journeyed to Gothenburg, a city where they famously triumphed over Real Madrid in the 1983 Cup Winners Cup final. The Scottish side managed to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Swedish champions FC Hacken, who experienced a collapse in the final 15 minutes of the match.

After 69 minutes, Ibrahim Sadiq’s penalty placed the hosts in a two-goal lead. However, Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski struck back with a goal after 75 minutes, and then set up Nicky Devlin four minutes later, leading to the right back’s first goal for Aberdeen.

In the 90th minute, Hacken’s Johan Hammar received a second yellow card for obstructing Miovski. Aberdeen pushed hard in the closing moments, nearly finding the net twice and having a goal disallowed for offside in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, Ajax showcased their strength with a remarkable 4-1 victory over Ludogorets in Bulgaria. Ghana international Mohammed Kudus stood out by scoring a hat-trick for Ajax, while Brian Brobbey added another goal. Ludogorets managed to find the net once with a late goal from defender Olivier Verdon.

In the Conference League, Twente initially took the lead with a goal from Manfred Ugalde, but Fenerbahce swiftly responded through former Twente defender Jayden Oosterwolde. Fenerbahce secured a 5-1 victory by scoring four goals in the final 30 minutes.

Besiktas also enjoyed success, as Kazakhstan international Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov scored in added time to give them a thrilling 3-2 win over Dynamo Kyiv. Kolo Muani’s goal put Eintracht Frankfurt ahead against Levski Sofia, but Hassimi Fadiaga equalized for the hosts in the dying moments of added time.

In Lille, 17-year-old defender Leny Yoro’s 89th-minute goal led the hosts to a comeback 2-1 victory over Rijeka of Croatia. Osasuna’s European journey, revived after a legal decision, faced a setback as they suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Club Brugge.
