Jeremy Doku, aged 21, is set to make a significant move to the European champions at a reported cost of £55 million ($70 million). Speaking about his transfer, Doku expressed his excitement in a statement released by Manchester City.

“This is an incredibly special day for me, both personally and professionally,” Doku remarked. “Joining Manchester City, the world’s finest football team, is an immense honor for my family and me. I’m a young player with a lot of room for growth and improvement. Collaborating with Pep Guardiola and his team, as well as sharing the field with these exceptional players, will undoubtedly elevate my skills and capabilities.”

Doku showcased his talent by netting 12 goals in 92 appearances for Rennes after making his debut as a promising teenager with Anderlecht back in his home country. His acquisition marks the third signing made by City during this transfer period, following the arrivals of Croatian talents Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.

City’s pursuit of a winger was spurred by the departure of Riyad Mahrez, who made a move to Saudi club Al-Ahli. Additionally, the club is actively seeking a midfielder to cover the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, who is anticipated to be sidelined for up to four months due to a hamstring injury.

Reportedly, Wolves’ Matheus Nunes and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze are being considered as potential candidates. The club had previously considered Lucas Paqueta from West Ham, but the pursuit was derailed by a Football Association inquiry into potential betting regulation breaches by the Brazilian player.
